Us Midterm Elections

Most Americans think a lot is online this election cycle and plan to be involved. According to a new SurveyMonkey\/theSkimm\/Hive poll, approximately 62% of Americans believe that the 2018 midterm elections are more important than other midterms in their lifetime. Only 6% feel they're less significant and one third think they're just as critical as previous midterm elections. The perceived significance of the election seems to have an impact on the probability that Americans will vote also. Two-thirds of those polled said they're absolutely certain to vote. Those that responded that they'll likely vote, are undecided or don't plan to vote each represented ten percent of respondents or less.

And the reason a vast majority of those polled plan to vote? Mostly President Trump. Roughly 58% said that the election made it likely that they'd vote, and 32% stated his election had no effect on their voting behavior. Among people who said they're unlikely to vote in Nov, 18% feel that their vote won't make a difference, while 12% say they're too busy to vote. Approximately 11% say that they do not plan to vote because they do not like the candidates, while ten percent are merely not registered. However, .1 answer among the non-voters is that they didn't know enough about the issue or candidate, with 27% supplying that as their reason.

However, those that believe they do not know enough to vote don't necessarily appear willing to inform themselves. Approximately 27% of those polled said they don't trust anything if it is news outlets, nonpartisan websites, candidates websites, or social networking to give accurate info on what a candidate believes. But among also the rest, Americans overall are more inclined to trust news sources or nonpartisan sites like Headcount.org than friends and social or family media.

Obviously, Americans are won't overstate their voting intentions.
